Watson Island is an urban island facility situated directly along the multi-lane causeway that connects Downtown Vice City with the barrier island of Vice Beach. Due to its midpoint location, Watson Island commands panoramic skyline vistas of both the downtown skyscraper core to the west and the neon-lit oceanfront of Vice Beach to the east. In gameplay terms, Watson Island functions as a high-speed transit junction and a premier staging area for aquatic vehicles. Players traveling between the mainland and the beach can quickly detour off the main causeway to secure luxury speedboats, access open helipads, or seek temporary refuge away from congested city streets. In the real world, Watson Island represents Miami's Watson Island, located along the MacArthur Causeway in Biscayne Bay. Developed in the 1930s, the real-world island is home to the Miami Yacht Club, a public seaplane base, lush subtropical gardens, and prominent civic attractions overlooking the downtown port channels.
