In gameplay terms, the Western Keys serve as an ultimate remote frontier. Without police response or civilian traffic, the islands offer freedom for heavy-weapons shootouts, covert boat drops, and hidden treasure salvage operations. In the real world, the Western Keys are inspired by the Marquesas Keys and the remote Dry Tortugas National Park, historic uninhabited coral atolls west of Key West.
